Selley Group – Who Controls How We Live?

Cherise Selley July 29th, 2009

Ever watch the news on television in which legal commentators and pollsters spew their opinions about various subjects without having all the facts?  The answer to this poignant question is simply yes, of course.  Because most of the opinions expressed on the flat screen are done so with the intent to influence not to necessarily educate the viewer properly.

For instance, while waiting in the lobby for an appointment I had the opportunity to listen to some financial prognosticators on cable TV who were informing the public when it was prudent to make a home purchase during these market times.  The opinions varied significantly among the television guests.  Some promoted the purchase of investment properties because this market had great bargains, while others opined on the side conservatism, recommending the “wait and see” approach to participate in the residential sector, especially in the comeback areas of the United States.

Regardless, this took me back for a second.  I began to think…

If we actually made our life decisions based upon network opinions, then who is actually in charge of our decision-making and its affect upon our behaviors?  Unfortunately, many are glued to the television set, waiting for additional information (which is usually delivered in the cloak of fear) before making any forward steps in life.

It seems as if fear reinforces our insecurities that we’re never ready to move forward and even if we try, what’s the use?  In effect, although cable television provides some resourceful information, it’s not the entire basis or the authority over our lives for life-changing decisions like making an all-important home purchase.

Other variables are as important as the economic indicators, such as job opportunities, educational factors, family changes, as well as spiritual and lifestyle choices, etc.

Whenever we make the decision to purchase a home we do so with the intent of buying low, then eventually selling high.  Yet, we must not forget this very important point.  When we enter into a purchase, this is our reference point for our low.  And when we sell, this is when we can get the most from our purchase, even though multiple variables must be factored.  For our area, consult a Colorado Springs Realtor to gain larger perspective about these parameters.

Seemingly, the media tries to project objectivity, yet the reporting of the numbers and economic forecast indicators influences the fearful emotions of the vast majority.  Things are usually not as bad as predicted, and on the other hand, things aren’t probably as good as they should be.

I encourage us to make our Colorado Springs Real Estate purchases after considering every facet regarding how life decisions are made.  And to the point, we are fully in charge of making our own decisions about the best time to purchase residential real estate, even if the indicators seem unfavorable.
