Selley Group – Money Down

Cherise Selley August 3rd, 2009

As reported by the National Association of Realtors, many, in fact about 82% of those attempting to buy a home, face the daunting challenge of saving enough money for a downpayment, as well as coming up with the dollars for closing costs.  Within the Colorado Springs Real Estate market, our brokerage has noticed that it’s become customary for the Seller to pick up the necessary closing costs, which are usually negotiated as part of the deal.

Still, with the uncertainty of the American economy, lack of personal funding will deter many who desire to have home ownership, which is typically recognized as an excellent vehicle to having a controlled future investment.

The $8,000 tax credit has been mentioned onerously throughout many articles about housing and how real estate correlates with the economy.  Our group of Colorado Springs Realtors believes that real estate is usually first injured in slumping financials.  But the good news is that the comeback of the economy will probably ride on the shoulders of a sustained upsurge in the real estate market.

As for those who practice real estate as a career, the poignant question about sustainability persists.

As for now, the $8,000 tax credit has certainly shot a stimulant in the arm of first-time home buyers who are realizing their real estate dreams.  The monetized tax credit program is scheduled to conclude on November 30, 2009.

Yet the rumor on the streets is talk of an expansion of the tax credit from $8,000 to $15,000 and also being made available to all home buyers not just those making their first purchase.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed on this potential mortgage program.  Although there’s been some local drop in home values, affordability has been opened up for a wider range of buyer candidates, especially more so if more dollars are pumped into the home buying system.
