Selley Group – CBS Sunday Morning

Cherise Selley October 27th, 2009

As the overcast clouds started to sprinkle snowflakes over the terrain, my husband and I decided to stay home from church to relax and to enjoy the winter ambience.  With hot chai teas in hand, we cuddled on the couch to watch some early morning television – quietly.  Our attention was drawn to the TV during a segment entitled, “Welcome to the Thin City,” on CBS Sunday Morning.

It was a feature, highlighting the fact that Colorado Springs is the least obese city in the United States.  The reason for this is because the mindset of the people who reside here values the culture of fitness over fat.  It seems like everyone is out and about, ranging from hiking trails to outdoor neighborhood parks.

Economic statistics reveal that 6 million dollars have been recently spent on trails, and Colorado Springs currently has 124 neighborhood parks for personal and recreational use.  This is great information for those who are inclined to purchase Colorado Springs Real Estate in the future.

Research data supports that people are 100% more likely to hike, 50% are likely to use elliptical equipment, 41% are likely to exercise with weights, and -65% are likely to eat donuts when comparing these figures to other segments of the US population.

As a Colorado Springs Realtor, these issues about the context of health do arise at times about this area, especially when advising those who are seeking to relocate to Colorado Springs.

When the Sunday Morning program concluded its piece, my husband and I shot a smile of approval at each other, being thankful that we were living in this beautiful place…
