Have you read any of Jeffrey Gitomer, the author of The Sales Bible and The Little Red Book of Selling?
His approach about sales is brute “in-your-face” honest, but poignant about the “how-to” methods for succeeding in the business world.
In an article I read, entitled, “It’s 2010! Are you ready to recover, or still in a funk?” – I was somewhat flattered about how my own real estate brokerage seems to be doing the right things in terms of navigating through these uncertain currents of economic times.
Yet, being flattered can only be short-lived, because this business season requires great humility as a leader, as well as dying to some old-thinking habits you might have acquired from past experiences.
Gitomer states, “REALITY: 2010 will ONLY be better than 2009 if YOU make it better. You are the recovery, you are the bailout, and you are the stimulus.”
Of course this opinion traverses over several business landscapes, including the Colorado Springs Real Estate market. And it touches on the importance of numbers, as well as the attitudinal shifts required to closely connect executives to the customers, marketing to the sales and cold calls to the referrals.
As a Colorado Springs Realtor, I appreciate his take on making a stronger and visible presence on the internet through SEO/SMO and transporting out of the 90’s way of doing things.
Yet, this isn’t accomplished without tremendous effort.
“HERE’S THE CHALLENGE: Are you willing to allocate the time from your present scramble to make these elements happen in your business and your sales career?” as posed by Gitomer.
So far, I view this time as being about discipline and endurance. I’m not sure anyone can get an exact handle about our business realities and the exorbitant work efforts that are required to get through this maze. But I do know this – this is a time in which our measure of faith is being mightily tested.
So in response to the challenging question about will, my answer is yes. How about you? What are your thoughts about changing from old to new and doing things differently in this second decade of the 2000’s?
