Make Sure Your Social Communication is not Spam

Gordon Selley June 1st, 2010

To build successful online relationships, you need to first do a “SPAMSales Pitching After Meeting” check. Make sure your social communication is not SPAM.  Simply put, people are sick and tired of being pressured about sales.  Instead, “relationship” is the operative word for business these days.

So how do you build a rapport with so many different types of individuals who use several different technological methods to communicate?

Develop a rapport first. Through your course of social marketing and your unique branding message, the potential client has already begun to form an opinion about establishing a business relationship with you.  The communication should now be focused on the client, not you.  Really listening, asking pertinent questions, and then offering service-oriented solutions provide client benefits firstly.

Don’t focus on bragging about your technological savvy. No one really cares if you’re driving the Mercedes of technology or the Acura.   It’s very easy to present complicated technology amongst your branding that gives the impression of updated SPAM.  It’s certainly okay to portray clean, simple and elegant technology bells and whistles to your websites, facebook, blogs, videos, tweets, etc.  But make sure your core message strikes a chord with the heart of the client.  This is vital in creating social relationships.
