Gordon here. This blog slightly deviates to some I have written in cooperation with Cherise, in which I try to bring some thought-provoking ideas to the real estate business model and encouragement to our Colorado Springs CO Realtors.
Nevertheless, I have to get this off my chest. It’s rather metaphoric, comparing the similarities between the plight of the Dallas Cowboys and the foreclosure crisis.
First, you must understand that I have been an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, dating back to my childhood of the 60’s and 70’s. For years, I have faithfully followed the team, its players, schedules, and all of their victories, as well as their defeats.
The Dallas Cowboys are oftentimes referred to as America’s team; just as our home mortgage system has been the backbone for America’s homeownership for Americans.
But this year has been pathetic for the Cowboys. They are one of the most talented teams in the NFL, but continue to lose ball games due to sloppy play. Penalties and foolish turnovers! Similar to the moratorium on home mortgage foreclosures. I’m afraid this kind of action will halt any forward progress by wreaking havoc on title insurance companies and injuring the buyers’ psyche about future ownership.
I know the referees make the penalty calls in the football game. And sometimes, the calls are horribly incorrect. Aren’t we seeing the same thing happening about this moratorium on foreclosures – as the politicians have possibly made a blundering call?
Hopefully, Dallas can turn things around after starting the season 1-4. Their schedule is very difficult for the remainder of the season, and I’m sure Jerry Jones, who is the owner, as well as the coaching staff, has reached the epitome of high stress about the team’s predicament.
But it’s really no different for the decision-makers about the housing crisis in America.
Personally, I’m still rooting for the Cowboys. Though the dark clouds are circling the wagons, I still believe there is hope for them to salvage the season, as I believe is the case with our housing and foreclosure crisis nationwide.
