South Colorado Springs — The Broadmoor and A Lot More

The south of Colorado Springs is defined in many respects by its proximity to The Broadmoor — that storied, almost legendary 5-star and world-renowned resort at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills. The resort itself is comprised of multiple facilities, an award-winning golf course, a myriad of restaurants, bars and cafes, a lake and a whole lot more. If you haven’t stayed here or just walked around, you should! The resort embodies so much of the goodness that makes Colorado Springs such an exceptional place to live. The neighborhood around the resort is referred to as “The Broadmoor” as well. Many of these homes are large, older, classic custom homes and mansions built and re-modeled over the last 6 or 7 decades as Colorado Springs has grown into its own. The entire area, following the lead of the resort, definitely has a “5-star” and “luxury” feel to it.
Another neighborhood of note and directly south from The Broadmoor is Broadmoor Bluffs—newer homes built on larger lots in the foothills, equally as “luxurious” in their design and scale. Just north of The Broadmoor is the Skyway neighborhood, offering more luxury homes, though diverse in layouts, scope and design. “Skyway” sports exceptional views of Downtown Colorado Springs and definitely lives up to its namesake. Out here the access to the southern foothills of Pikes Peak is exceptional, with multiple parks, trails and miles and miles of open-space for those who like to get outside. Bear Creek Regional Park dominates the Skyway neighborhood and is one of the region’s biggest. Seven Falls and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are world-class attractions owned and operated by The Broadmoor as well.
On the eastern edge of this area, the Ivywild neighborhood is less luxurious but equally as classic in its appeal and has seen an incredible re-birth over the last five years. With the re-development of the classic Ivywild School into an events venue and brewery featuring multiple restaurants, cafes and craft distilleries, the area has seen a notable revival and further retail, dining and entertainment development means that this energetic trend will continue for years to come. South Colorado Springs is luxurious and mountainous, full of some incredible natural beauty and luxurious, built spaces. For many, Colorado Springs would not be what it is today without the influence of this area and its namesake resort.
