For the nature lovers, for the seekers of spectacular natural beauty, western Colorado Springs offers exceptional access to trails, parks and well-known attractions for visitors and guests to the Pikes Peak Region, including Garden of the Gods, the Flying W Ranch, Garden of the Gods Club, Kissing Camels, Blodgett Peak, Rampart Range Road, the Rockledge Ranch and more! Many of the neighborhoods here are built on the slopes of the foothills themselves, and in many respects the proximity to the mountains defines much of the character of western Colorado Springs.
Not to be totally outdone by the natural environs, however, are many of the near-urban neighborhoods on the southern edge of this area. Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs offer classic, western appeal with small, artisan, local shops, dining, night-life and plenty of homes built during Colorado Springs’ golden age as a western frontier town. Both areas are en-route to Pikes Peak, America’s mountain and for many, represent an original Colorado Springs lifestyle. Further north, neighborhoods such as Rockrimmon and Mountain Shadows feature larger, custom homes on large, semi-mountainous lots. Newer, more suburban developments exist in this area as well and even here mountainous parks and open spaces like Ute Valley Park present plenty of opportunity to see a herd of deer, a bobcat or a bear at twilight
Diversity of housing stock, and many neighborhoods defined by their proximity to the Colorado Rocky Mountain foothills give this area of Colorado Springs a unique and attractive sense of aesthetic and feel, different from other areas in town.
