A few months ago, we met we Shawna as she showed us around her new lot and shared the vision for her dream home. Her incredible lot features views of a pond, as well as gorgeous Front Range views. As the foundation is now being set on her home, we can begin to see the vision coming to life!

In this video, she is walking us through their steps of choosing their lot for their new home and placing it strategically to best enjoy the beautiful environment. The foundation is poured currently and they’ll continue on with framing soon. For the foundation they had to raise the driveway four feet which was a unique challenge they faced. They also took extra precautions to waterproof the basement.

One aspect of the home Shawna is most excited about for her new home is a big front porch. Their porch will be 20 feet on one side and 28 feet on the other side. Upstairs in the home there will also be a loft and additional bedrooms.

She also shares some of the challenges the pandemic has added to building a new home in Colorado Springs in 2021. The production time for things like windows and doors was much longer than expected. Lumber prices are also skyrocketing by the day, so they are trying to buy it as soon as possible.
