In this third segment of our series on Shawna’s new build, we give you an update — with structure! The house has come a long way since the last time we saw it and is actually starting to resemble something we might recognize. We start outside, where the front porch (with some amazing Pikes Peak views) has been started with a wood-plank stamped concrete, durable and stylish. The exposed timber and tin porch roof will add some rustic ambiance, while also contributing to the true modern farmhouse look of the home.
Inside, the layout of the main great-room, Shawna’s favorite, can start to be seen — 18’ high ceilings with exposed beams (eventually). Plenty of windows and an open, airy design will make this space attractive and functional. The master bedroom features its own private fireplace and Pella casement windows — a quality frame to the great view up here. Another of the design features that we’re proud of here is the choice to make hallway spaces wider and more functional, including one on the main level near the master that doubles as an office.
Above the garage we have a flex space with a separate living area. Custom homes allow us to create our spaces around our lives as they are currently, or as we think they’ll evolve, rather than the other way around. They also allow us to design according to the landscape. We think it’s pretty cool … what do you think? Stay tuned for the next video in this series as Shawna’s home continues to develop into the space she and her family have always wanted.
